Sugar Hill proudly embraces the arts. From murals in our downtown to theater performances in City Hall, the Sweet City provides many ways to enjoy art in your hometown. Here are five ways to do so:
Artist of the Month: Each month the Art Commission showcases a local artist’s work in the Art Gallery of City Hall. During the month of February, artist Chad Shore will debut a new collection titled “…Golden”. The collection will be available to view during City Hall’s normal hours of operation from February 1st through the 28th. Please join the Sugar Hill Arts Commission on February 1st for an opening reception of Chore’s show from 6pm-8pm.
Players Guild @ Sugar Hill: This is a community group that puts on a handful of performances throughout the year. The Players Guild allows the opportunity for people to get involved in multiple ways. Feel free to audition, help with ticketing, or grab some friends and head to a show to get a taste of the performing arts in Sugar Hill.
Kiwanis Art Show: On March 5th-17th the North Gwinnet Kiwanis will host its third-annual art show in City Hall’s Art Gallery during normal business hours. This show features art from local high school students. Come out to support art, youth, and creativity in our community during this great show.
Broad Street Concert Band: The Broadstreet Concert Band is a community band for adults that plays a wide variety of music. The Band plays at multiple events in Sugar Hill throughout the year and is always looking for new members. From Disney favorites to classic band compositions, the Broadstreet Concert Band is an act that people of all ages can enjoy.
Brenau “Post-War Modernists” Exhibit: The Sugar Hill Arts Commission has arranged to borrow an esteemed collection from Brenau College this spring. This exciting collection will feature artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Salvador Dali, Jasper Johns, Helen Frankenthaler, Roy Lichtenstein, and Andy Warhol. This collection will be displayed from March 29-April 30th in City Hall’s Art Gallery during normal operating hours.
