Sugar Hill Arts Commission is thrilled to announce a new and very exciting gallery show: Post-War Modernists.  The exhibit is on loan from Brenau University’s Permanent Art Collection and features post World War II artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Salvador Dali and Jasper Johns.  The collection will be on display at Sugar Hill City Hall from March 29th through May 11, 2018 during normal business hours.  A cocktail reception will be held to celebrate the exhibit March 29, 2018 from 6 to 8 P.M.

The idea for the show began almost a year ago after a presentation by the Georgia Council of the Arts held at Brenau University.“After the presentation, Nicole Rawlings, Brenau’s Gallery Director, invited attendees on a tour of the Manhattan Gallery,” said Kerry Murphy, Vice Chair of the Sugar Hill Arts Commission. “[We] were blown away by the experience.  Right in the middle of North Georgia, in an unassuming hallway where students learn physiotherapy was one of the most memorable galleries I have ever seen.  After a guided tour we joked about putting the artwork in a UHaul, and bringing it to Sugar Hill so our residents here could enjoy the pieces.”

The public is invited to attend the cocktail reception on Thursday March 29th or to view the installation at Sugar Hill City Hall (5039 West Broad Street, Sugar Hill, GA 30518) weekdays from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.  Tickets are not required and there is no cost to view the exhibit.
